Andy Burnham accused of 'staggering' hike in university tuition fees
Andy Burnham has been accused of "hiking tuition fees to record levels" by the Scottish National Party (SNP) as analysis reveals today's English undergraduates have over £50,000 of debt on average. When university tuition fees were introduced by new Labour under Tony Blair, they were set at £1,000. But fees at English universities are now set at £9,790 a year, a "staggering" rise of 879 per cent.
